The Bayer Dormagen power plant is a gas and steam combined cycle power plant in Dormagen, North Rhine-Westphalia, fired with natural gas and mineral oil . It is located on the edge of the Chempark Dormagen and is used to supply the chemical park. The operator of the power plant, which went into operation in 2000, is RWE Generation . The construction of the power plant cost 450 million marks .
The power plant provides electricity and process steam for the chemical park and other consumers. With a process steam extraction of 100 t / h output, the power plant has a net output of 561 megawatts . The power plant has two gas turbines with 190 MW each and one steam turbine that has an output of 193 MW without steam extraction. The maximum process steam flow is 490 t / h (corresponding to 394 MW). The process steam is provided with the steam parameters 31 bar / 300 ° C, 16 bar / 300 ° C and 6 bar / 200 ° C. The thermal district heating output is 480 MW with maximum steam extraction.
Around 260 MW of the electricity generated is used in the chemical park. The power plant feeds into the power grid of the distribution network operator Westnetz at the 110 kV high voltage level .
