The power plant Merikoski is a hydroelectric power plant in the city of Oulu , countryside Northern Ostrobothnia , Finland , the most Oulujoki located. It is the last power plant in the chain of seven hydropower plants on Oulujoki.
The power plant is owned by Oulun Energia operated and run by Oulun Energia. It was built from 1940 to 1954 and went into operation with the first machine in 1948.
Barrier structure
The barrier structure consists of a gravity dam . The weir system is located upstream on the left bank of the river. From the weir system, the dam runs parallel to the right bank for about 300 m. The machine house is located next.

With three machines, the power plant has an installed capacity of 40 MW . Annual generation reached a record in 2015 with 294 million kWh .
