The Pueblo Viejo power plant ( Spanish Central hidroeléctrica Pueblo Viejo ) is a hydroelectric power plant in the province of Tucumán , Argentina . It is located about 2.5 km below the confluence of the Río La Horqueta and Río Los Reales on the Río Pueblo Viejo . The two weir systems and the associated hydropower plant are also known as the Pueblo Viejo hydropower plant complex (Spanish Complejo hidroeléctrico Pueblo Viejo ). The city of Monteros is around 25 km east of the power plant.

Barriers

Both the Río La Horqueta and the Río Los Reales have weir systems where the water is diverted and led to the power station via tunnels. The weir on the Río La Horqueta is 5 m high and 49 m long. A maximum of 800 m³ / s can be discharged via the weir fields. The weir on the Río Los Reales has a height of 9.2 m and a length of 48.5 m. A maximum of 1000 m³ / s can be discharged via the weir fields.

power plant

The power plant was commissioned in 1967. The installed capacity of the power plant is 15 (or 15.36 or 19.2) MW . The average annual generation is given as 37 (or 42 or 57.6) million  kWh . Annual production fluctuates: in 1989 it was 15.6 million kWh and in 1969 it was 61.3 million kWh.

The two Francis turbines produce a maximum of 7.7 (or 7.98) MW each and the generators 9.6 MVA each  . The nominal speed of the turbines is 750 / min. The fall height is 202 m. The maximum flow rate is 9 m³ / s. In the switchgear , the generator voltage is increased from 13.2  kV to 132 kV using power transformers.

The power plant is operated by Hidroeléctrica Tucumán SA .
