The Siekerki thermal power station is one of the largest thermal power stations in Poland . It is located in the Siekierki district in the Mokotów district in the south of Warsaw and is the second largest power plant in the Polish capital. In addition to electricity , district heating is also generated using the combined heat and power principle. The cooling water comes from the nearby Vistula , Siekerki does not have a cooling tower .

The first unit of the power plant went online in 1961. Today the power plant consists of several individual systems, some of which are complexly interconnected. Overall, the power plant has an electrical output of 620  MW and a thermal output of 2080 MW.

In 2000, Vattenfall Heat Poland SA , a subsidiary of the Swedish energy group Vattenfall , began to acquire shares in Siekierki. Today the company owns 99% of the power plant.
