The Termopaipa power plant is a hard coal-fired power plant in Paipa in the Boyacá department in Colombia . The installed capacity is 321 (or 336) MW . According to the operator GENSA, 1.663 billion kWh were generated in 2007 .
Power plant units
The power plant consists of a total of four units with different capacities that went into operation from 1963 to 1999. The following table gives an overview:

In 2015, Alstom announced that it intends to increase the output of Block I to 39 MW.
Unit IV was the first foreign power plant planned, financed and built by Steag . The project started in 1993, construction began in 1996. On January 7, 1999, Block IV went into commercial operation. It has an electrical output of 165 MW and can produce 414 GWh annually.

Blocks I to III are owned by the Colombian company Gestión Energética SA (GENSA). Block IV of the power plant is owned by the project company Compañía Electrica de Sochagota SA , in which Steag has a 51% stake.
