Kranscheid
Kranscheid is a deserted area in the district of Kesseling in the district of Ahrweiler ( Rhineland-Palatinate ).
Geographical location
The place was on a high plateau at an altitude of 420 m above sea level. NHN in today's forest district "Krascheider Auel" west of the Herschbach between the places Kesseling and Weidenbach . The nearby "Kranscheid refuge" is also reminiscent of the former village.
history
In the Middle Ages , Kranscheid belonged to Kesseling . It is not known when the place fell into desolation.
The settlement
The settlement probably only consisted of a few individual homesteads. It can be assumed that it was not a classic place. The ending “‑scheid” suggests that it is a high medieval clearing settlement from the 9th to 13th centuries.
Apart from a few rudimentary foundation walls, nothing is left of the desert.
