The Krause Beech is a natural monument in the western part of the Eidinghauser Berges forest district in the Wiehen Mountains in the Minden-Lübbecke district .

This tree, which is located in the area of the city of Bad Oeynhausen , is a Süntelbuche , a special form of the common beech that is naturally distributed in the neighboring Weser and Wiehen Mountains as well as in the Süntel , which gives it its name. Today's Krause beech was created around 1920, initially unnoticed from the much admired old Krause beech, which itself was placed under nature protection in 1928. The old Krause beech burned in 1952 as a result of a lightning strike.

  1. "A very well-known Süntelbuche still stands today on the Wiehengebirge, not far from the“ Wilder Schmied ”, between Porta and Bergkirchen, and it bears the name“ Krause Buche ”because of its striking growth. According to a newspaper article, it is supposed to be very close by a second, smaller one grows. For the plant geographer, this occurrence justifies the assumption that the Süntelbuche was once spread from the Süntel over the Weser range to the Wiehengebirge. (...) " -H.
