The Eidinghauser Berg is a 247  m high mountain in the Wiehen Mountains . It lies on the border of the East Westphalian cities of Minden and Bad Oeynhausen in the Minden-Lübbecke district . The mountain got its name from the village of Eidinghausen , today a district of Bad Oeynhausen, the center of which is, however, over 4 km in a south-westerly direction and can hardly be described as a real Wiehengebirgsdorf. Much closer are the towns of Uphausen , around 1 kilometer to the north, and above all the town of Haddenhausen , just under 2 kilometers to the north, which also gives the district of Mindens its name. There is a trigonometric point on the summit of the Eidinghauser Berg .

In the north, the Wiehengebirge is regularly wooded up to a height of around 130 meters, in the south agricultural areas on the one hand reach up to around 160 meters, in the southeast, however, the mountain forest partially extends down to a height of 50 meters, which is for the southern Tree line of the eastern Wiehengebirge is very atypical.

Like almost all mountains in the Wiehengebirge, the Eidinghauser Berg has an elongated ridge summit (Egge) and is only separated from the peaks to the west and east by dorers . Therefore, the mountain is only partially perceived as a prominent peak.

The mountain is located at an average wide point of the ridge-like Wiehengebirge, which here, in relation to the northern and southern tree line, is 1,200 meters wide. Just north of the summit runs the Wittekindsweg, which in this area also bears the name Eggeweg and here is a public road that u. a. There is access to the Zum Wilden Schmied mountain restaurant , which is 1,100 meters east of the summit, also on a ridge and with a beautiful view of the Ravensberger Land and the lake district in the Great Weserbogen . 300 meters west of the summit is a refuge at a fork in the road. 700 meters west of the summit is the natural monument Krause beech , which is a dwarf beech is

Individual evidence

  1. "A very well-known Süntelbuche still stands today on the Wiehengebirge, not far from the“ Wilder Schmied ”, between Porta and Bergkirchen, and it bears the name“ Krause Buche ”because of its striking growth. According to a newspaper article, it is supposed to be very close by a second, smaller one grows. For the plant geographer, this occurrence justifies the assumption that the Süntelbuche was once spread from the Süntel over the Weser range to the Wiehengebirge. (...) " -H.
