The type ML 700 C from Krauss-Maffei is a standard-gauge works railway and shunting locomotive with diesel-hydraulic drive , 700 PS (515 kW) and three axles ( wheel arrangement  C), which comes from the manufacturer's third post-war generation. The designation contains the technical data of the locomotive.

History and technology

After Krauss-Maffei gained experience with diesel locomotives with cardan shaft drives with the V 80 and V 200 series , the locomotive manufacturer set up a range of three-axle diesel-hydraulic industrial locomotives with cardan shafts with 500 and 700 hp respectively with the third post-war generation vehicles.

15 ML 700 C locomotives were manufactured from 1962 to 1963.

The deliveries were made:

One locomotive stayed with Krauss-Maffei and was rented to various customers.

commitment

In 2020 some locomotives are still preserved, one of the Westfalenhütte received the NVR number 98 80 3507 002-4 D-BUVL in the German vehicle settings register .

Neukölln-Mittenwald Railway ML 00605

The locomotive was delivered brand new to the Neukölln-Mittenwalder Railway in 1965 after it had previously been exhibited at the International Transport Exhibition in Munich . In 1995 the Westfälische Lokomotiv-Fabrik Hattingen Karl Reuschling was rebuilt and the machinery was renewed. The locomotive was part of the NME's inventory until 2014.

Repowering at Gmeinder Lokomotiven

A locomotive from the Westfalenhütte was given to the Gmeinder company in Mosbach for repowering in 2015 . The locomotive received a new drive motor from Caterpillar with the designation 3412E DI-TTA , which has slightly more power. It is also equipped with a new L4r4 V 2 gearbox from Voith. The locomotive received an automatic shunting coupling and wheel flange lubrication . Equipped in this way, the locomotive is to be rented to external customers.
