The type M 1200 BB from Krauss-Maffei is a standard-gauge works railway and shunting locomotive with diesel-hydraulic drive , 860 kW power and two bogies with the B'B 'wheel arrangement. It was developed in the early 1970s. The locomotives have the NVR number 98 80 3512 in the German vehicle configuration register.

history

The locomotives are successors to the M 800 BB from Krauss-Maffei , which were used on the railroad and ports in Duisburg . Krauss-Maffei received the order for a new design to build a more powerful locomotive .

The majority of the locomotives were delivered to railways and ports , while BASF and the Hohenzollerische Landesbahn received additional locomotives .

A locomotive was rented as a demonstration locomotive to a private company in the Netherlands , which returned to Germany.

The locomotives have proven themselves well in operation, so that all locomotives will still be available in 2019.

technical description

The locomotives are front-mounted locomotives with a central driver's cab, which were specially developed for use on factory and private railways with frequent shunting maneuvers. They belong to the fourth generation of Krauss-Maffei diesel locomotives, the designation of which has replaced the ML previously used with an M before the power specification in PS .

The locomotives have stems of different lengths, the longer one houses the propulsion system and the shorter one houses the auxiliaries .

The stems have different shapes within the delivery series; on the locomotives of railways and ports they are smooth, on the HZL they have a slope in the porch roof. The driver's cab has side steps and an elongated roof as sun protection. The different service weights result from the optional use of ballast.

The diesel-hydraulic machine system has an engine from MTU Friedrichshafen and a gearbox from Voith . The locomotives have multiple traction systems .
