The Eisenbahn und Häfen GmbH was a German service company in the rail transport and handling of goods as well as their storage and order picking. It was based in Duisburg and was merged with ThyssenKrupp Steel in June 2011 .

In the greater Ruhr area , Eisenbahn und Häfen was the operator of the connecting railways for several companies and operated a track network of over 500 kilometers in length. Together with the subsidiary EH Güterverkehr GmbH , the company handled both internal and regional rail freight traffic on the public track infrastructure. So railways and ports operated rail traffic a. a. for ThyssenKrupp Steel, Hüttenwerke Krupp Mannesmann , EUROPIPE and ArcelorMittal Ruhrort.

In addition, Eisenbahn und Häfen operated the ports of Schwelgern and Walsum-Süd .

With around 1300 employees, 100 million tons of goods are moved every year. Over 90 locomotives and around 2000 freight cars were available for this. Since EH Güterverkehr GmbH was a public rail transport company (EVU), it was able to carry out rail freight transport services on the public track infrastructure (approx. Seven million tons in 2006).
