The Salmünster district was a district in the Hanau Province of the Electorate of Hesse from 1822 to 1830 . The former district area is now part of the Main-Kinzig district in Hesse .

history

The Salmünster district was formed in 1821 on the basis of an electoral ordinance as a district of the Hessian province of Hanau . This also included the uniform division of the electoral state into provinces, which in turn were divided into circles. When it was founded, the Salmünster district had 16,611 inhabitants.

On January 1, 1830, the district was dissolved again. There were

The circles Gelnhausen and Schlüchtern (after 1945 as a country circles) existed until 1974 and then went through the municipal reform in Hesse in the Main-Kinzig-Kreis on.
