Georg-Wilhelm Hanna

Georg-Wilhelm Hanna (born April 20, 1939 in Berlin ) is a German historian , monument conservator and local researcher .

Life

Hanna grew up in Eschwege in northern Hesse , attended elementary school there and learned to be a painter in her father's business. He then spent eight years as a contract soldier in Upper Bavaria and passed the master craftsman's examination in Munich while serving in the armed forces . In 1970 he moved with his family to Bad Soden-Salmünster . There he worked for the prefabricated house company Streif . He was a co-founder of the Bad Soden-Salmünster Home and History Association and was chairman of the association for many years.

In 1981 Hanna became head of the monument preservation department in the Main-Taunus district and in 1986 moved to the Main-Kinzig district . Until his retirement in 1997 he was head of the home office, today's center for regional history, of the district for over ten years. During his tenure he managed to double the number of homeland and history clubs. He also took over the editing of the newsletter of the Center for Regional History and, since 1999, the honorary editing of the Bergwinkel-Boten , the home calendar of the old district of Schlüchtern .

In retirement, he began studying history at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main , which he completed with a master's degree . His master's thesis dealt with the murder of Duke Ulrich von Württemberg of his stable master Hans von Hutten . The work was titled Maenad, Maleficent and Loss of Power in 2003 . Published by Duke Ulrich von Württemberg and Hans von Hutten . He then completed a doctoral degree at the Otto Friedrich University in Bamberg . At the history and geosciences faculty of Bamberg University , Hanna obtained her doctorate in philosophy with the dissertation The noble knights of Hutten, their social position in church and state until the end of the Old Kingdom in July 2006 . His doctoral supervisor was the modern historian Eberhard Schmitt .

For his services, Georg-Wilhelm Hanna was awarded the Main-Kinzig District's Letter of Honor in 2016 and the City Seal of the City of Schlüchtern in 2019.
