history

On January 16, 1988 the first edition of the Gelnhäuser Neue Zeitung - GNZ for short -, Germany's youngest daily newspaper, appeared. A “dream print run” of 80,000 copies was printed for two weeks. For free and to get to know each other, the GNZ was distributed to every household in the region. The printing and press house Naumann was initially based in Freigericht-Altenmittlau. In 1994 the company moved to the former US barracks site in Gelnhausen. March 18, 1996 marks a historic day in the company history of Druck- und Pressehaus Naumann: Federal Chancellor Helmut Kohl himself put the new press into operation at the push of a button and named it "Ecoman". In the following years the company expanded continuously; contrary to the trend on the newspaper market, the circulation is growing. In January 2013 the GNZ - for years the largest daily newspaper in the region - celebrated its 25th birthday.

Edition

In contrast to most German daily newspapers , the Gelnhäuser Neue Zeitung has been able to increase its circulation in recent years.
