The local newspaper appears in Gifhorn in Madsack Medien Ostniedersachsen GmbH & Co. KG (MMO), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Madsack Verlag in Hanover ( Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung ).

The AZ works closely with the Wolfsburg general newspaper , which is published in Wolfsburg and is also published by MMO.

In addition, MMO also publishes the Peiner Allgemeine Zeitung and the advertising papers Hallo Wochen Peine, Hallo Wochen Salzgitter, Hallo Wochen Gifhorn and Hallo Wochen Wolfsburg.

In the Gifhorn area , the Aller newspaper competes with the Gifhorner Rundschau .

The first edition of the newspaper appeared in 1850. In 1900 the editors moved into a building on Rotaller, which is still home to the newspaper today. The local section and a large part of the AZ's sports coverage are created in Gifhorn; the supraregional part, the so-called coat , is supplied by the central editorial office RedaktionsNetzwerk Deutschland (RND) based in Hanover . The AZ is printed in Celle.

The joint website of Aller-Zeitung and Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung reaches around 3.4 million page impressions and 700,000 visits per month.
