The daily newspaper appears in Stadthagen in the district of Schaumburg in the Schaumburger Nachrichten Verlagsgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG, an eighty percent subsidiary of the Madsack publishing house from Hanover ( Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung ).

In the Rinteln area , the Schaumburger Nachrichten competes with the Schaumburger Zeitung , in the Bückeburg area with the Schaumburg-Lippische Landes-Zeitung . With a market share of around 50 percent, the Schaumburger Nachrichten is the market leader in the Schaumburg district.

The newspaper was only founded in 1974 when the regional editions of the Hannoversche Allgemeine and the SPD newspaper Hannoversche Presse (now the Neue Presse ), which had been brought into the Madsack Verlag , were merged.
