The circular path Aurich GmbH is a regional transport companies for transport in the northwest of Lower Saxony , based in Aurich ( Ostfriesland ). The company is also popularly known as Jan-Klein , a name that has since been incorporated into the company's logo. The company was founded in 1898 by the districts of Leer , Aurich and Wittmund as Kreisbahn Aurich GmbH . A third of it now belongs to Weser-Ems-Bus and thus, at least in part, to Deutsche Bahn .
history
From 1899 to 1969

The railway company opened the meter-gauge railway line from Leer via Aurich to Wittmund between 1899 and 1909, with a branch from Ogenbargen to Bensersiel, the ferry port to Langeoog. Between 1953 and 1969, rail traffic was discontinued in sections.
There were various name changes. In 1908 the name was changed to Kreisbahn Leer-Aurich-Wittmund GmbH. In 1931 the districts of Leer and Wittmund left the company and the State of Prussia and the Province of Hanover took over their shares. The small railway line Leer – Aurich – Wittmund was made from the circular path . In 1948 the state of Lower Saxony took over the state shares. In 1964 the name was changed to Kreisbahn Aurich GmbH . In 1980 the district of Aurich became the sole shareholder, in 1990 Weser-Ems-Busverkehr GmbH took over a third of the shares.
From 1970 until today
Since the shutdown of the small train in 1969, what is now the Aurich district transport company has only operated regional bus services . Numerous buses of various types and service vehicles are available for this today. The company also operates as a bus travel company.
The Aurich circular path
The Aurich district railway is now the oldest transport company and, with 75 of its own buses, one of the largest and most modern bus companies in East Friesland. The Aurich district railway has 75 own and 17 rented buses.
Depot
A new depot was built in Aurich in 1990 on the site of the former marshalling yard. All vehicles are parked and serviced here. There is also a gas station, a workshop and a car wash here.
Public transport regular service
The Aurich district railway and the Wiesmoor transport company are members of the Ems-Jade transport association and operate 14 bus routes in East Friesland .
The Aurich district railway has set up a city bus network in Aurich in cooperation with the Andreesen company and the city of Aurich. After economic difficulties it was converted into a dial- a- bus network , which is what it still operates today. However, a revitalization of the city bus network is planned.

Verkehrsbetriebe Wiesmoor mbH
Verkehrsbetriebe Wiesmoor mbH was founded in 1985 in Wiesmoor. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Aurich District Railway. In the early days, the company's buses were still housed in Aurich, until a new depot was built in Wiesmoor in 2001. 25 buses can be accommodated here.
Travel service "Jan-Klein"
The travel service "Jan-Klein" and Edzards Reisen founded a joint bus travel service in 2007 under the name "Reiselust Erleben". The touring fleet has now grown to 19 coaches.
