The Setra S 315 UL is a high floor - Omnibus MultiClass 300 series of the manufacturer Kässbohrer (1995) and EvoBus (1995-2006), considered depending on the equipment overland or combination bus can be used.
development
The S 315 UL was presented for the first time in September 1994 at the IAA in Hanover. Series production at the Neu-Ulm plant began at the beginning of 1995. In addition to the original version as an intercity bus with a straight front, it was also available from 1996 as a combination bus with the sloping front, such as the S 315 GT touring coach. Copies with this equipment feature are also referred to as S 315 UL-GT.
For the 2003 model year it received a small facelift on the front and rear and a revised driver's workstation. In this case, the ignition lock was installed under the steering wheel instead of in the dashboard as before. With this facelift, the Kässbohrer logo was omitted and the Setra lettering has since been kept in black on a silver background instead of the other way around. The renewed model was presented at the IAA 2002 and has a standard Euro 3 engine, the OM 457 hLA (h means horizontal engine ), in the rear.
The S 315 UL was very successful and is still in use today by many transport companies. In 2006 it was replaced by the Setra S 415 UL , which is still in production today.
Equipment
The many equipment options, which became more and more extensive over the course of the construction period, enabled the bus operator to design the vehicle precisely according to the intended use and individual wishes. These include For example, a ventilation or air conditioning system installed on the roof , different variants of destination displays and passenger seats (from simple line seats to adjustable travel chairs for occasional traffic ), individually upgradeable ceiling sets over the passenger seats , a refrigerator and a dashboard in line or coach design. The latter was delivered in conjunction with the travel front. If this was delivered, the bus was given the unofficial designation S 315 UL-GT .
drive
After the Mercedes-Benz OM 447 hLA with outputs of 184 kW (250 PS) and 220 kW (299) was initially available as a drive, from 1996 the MAN D 2866 LUH with 228 kW (310 PS) or 257 kW ( 350 hp) as an alternative in-line six-cylinder diesel engine to choose from. In the further course of the construction period, the engine range was also enhanced by a 257 kW (350 hp) variant of the MB OM 447 hLA. With the introduction of Euro 3 , the successor OM 457 hLA was installed from 2001 . This was available in four output levels: 185 kW (252 PS), 220 kW (299 PS), 260 kW (354 PS) or 300 kW (408 PS).
There were 6-speed manual transmissions from ZF or Mercedes-Benz, the 5-speed automatic ZF Ecomat (from the newer generation also with 6 gears), the 4-speed automatic Voith DIWA or the automated manual ZF ASTronic (for Euro -3 engines after the facelift) to choose from.
