history
The Kreissparkasse Halle (Westf.) Was founded on October 1st, 1856. On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the Sparkasse in 2006, the historian Uwe Heckert reviewed the history and the first 75 years of development in an article for the historical yearbook of the Gütersloh district.
In 1932 the Kreissparkasse received the status of an independent corporation under public law. With the municipal territorial reform in 1973, the newly formed Gütersloh district became the guarantor of the Sparkasse. In 1979 the savings banks in the Gütersloh district were reorganized. In the course of this reform, the Kreissparkasse transferred three branches to the Stadtsparkasse Versmold .
The Kreissparkasse had its own building on Kättkenstrasse in Halle since 1939. In August 1973, the new building of the main office on Bahnhofstrasse was occupied. After renovation and expansion in 1990/1992, the building was energetically renovated and modernized in 2010/2011. Today, the headquarters in the immediate vicinity of the historic town hall has become a meeting point in the center of the city.
