The Kremper Tor is part of the former fortifications of Neustadt in Holstein . It is the only surviving medieval city ​​gate outside Lübeck on the Lübeck Bay . In 1907 the gate was renovated. In the course of this renovation, the stepped gable was added.

Use as a museum

Inside is the zeiTTor Museum of the city of Neustadt in Holstein . The museum has been sponsored by the city of Neustadt since 2007. Before it was part of the Ostholstein Museum in Eutin . The museum mainly contains exhibits on archeology and geology from the Mesolithic to the 12th century AD. Furthermore, the museum offers a range of educational opportunities for children under the title “Life in prehistoric times”.

Accessible via the main entrance of the Zeittor Museum of the city of Neustadt in Holstein and in the eastern annex at Kremper Tor is the Cap Arcona Museum, which was built by the city to commemorate the sinking of the prisoner fleet on May 3, 1945 .
