The Kreuzstein on the Krumme Masch street in Lohnde , a district of the city of Seelze in the Hanover region in Lower Saxony , is a monument .

The Kreuzstein stands on private property behind the fence. The road forms a section of the former church path from Lohnde to Seelze or the highway from Hanover to the west. The front is clearly visible from the street, the rear is not accessible. When the bridge was built for today's Calenberger Strasse over the Mittelland Canal, which was under construction in 1909, the Kreuzstein was moved to its new location at the foot of the east ramp. On both sides of the stone there is a simple Latin bar cross with a cross bar that widens slightly towards the outside.

Blackboard inscription: In memory of Dietrich von Mandelsloh, who, according to the legend, was attacked and stabbed at this point in 1385 by men of the sovereign, Duke Heinrich von Braunschweig and Lüneburg, on the way to a meeting with the Duke, his followers put him down this cross stone.
The information board in front of the Kreuzstein

The cross stone is intended to commemorate Dietrich von Mandelsloh , who was stabbed to death by Duke Heinrich the Mild at this point in April 1395 or 1385, as is incorrectly written on the notice board in front of the cross stone . As a robber baron, Mandelsloh had threatened shipping on the leash from his Ricklingen Castle for decades . He had been invited to a conference in Seelze by the Duke in private .

According to other legends , the cross stone was supposed to commemorate a Jewish trader killed by road robbers or an officer Tilly who died in 1625 in the battle near Seelze .
