Hassenhausen war memorial
The war memorial Hassenhausen is a listed war memorial in the village of Hassenhausen in the Bad Kösen district of the city of Naumburg in Saxony-Anhalt . The memorial is listed in the local register of monuments under registration number 094 83523 as a monument .
The Hassenhausen war memorial is a memorial for the fallen officers and soldiers in the battle of Jena and Auerstedt . It is located on the main street of the village, opposite the former rectory, which is now a local museum. The way to the memorial leads up a 17-step staircase. The monument itself is an approx. 5 m high cross made of red granite on a four-tiered base . The inscription on the cross reads Do not forget the faithful dead . On the left there is a flag leaning against the cross. To the left below the flag, on the second step of the base, there is a wreath of oak leaves that is open to the top . Next to it is another inscription about the officers and soldiers who died in the battle of Auerstedt . On a bronze plaque, on the left side, the names of the fallen officers are engraved. Another bronze plaque is on the back of the monument. The number of officers who fell from 1806, 1803 to 1815 is engraved on this bronze plaque. A bronze plaque on the right gives information about the losses of the Prussian troops and the 8th Weimar Battalion. The entire monument is surrounded by a fence .
For the commander-in-chief of the Prussian main army, Field Marshal Karl Wilhelm Ferdinand , Duke of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel, a separate memorial was erected at the site of his fatal wound. Behind the church of the village is the memorial to the fallen soldiers of the First World War and the Second World War .
