Kris Pohlmann (born May 16, 1977 ) is a British-German blues rock musician.

Life

Kris Pohlmann was born in 1977 near London to a German and an Englishwoman in the United Kingdom . In the early 1990s, when he was fifteen, he was inspired by the music of Status Quo to play the guitar. It was also the music of ZZ Top , Free and Cream that inspired him in his youth. He came to the blues when he became aware of the music of Stevie Ray Vaughan . The music of Freddie King , Albert King , Rory Gallagher and Jeff Healey , and especially that of Gary Moore , who became his great role model, had a further influence on him .

At the end of the 1990s, at the age of 22, Pohlmann moved to Germany, where he has lived since then. In 2003 he started writing his own songs. Two years later, in 2005, he formed his first band.

The Kris Pohlmann Band formed with bassist Warren Richardson and drummer Elmar Stolley . They made several appearances and provided support for the American blues-rock guitarist Eric Gales and Nine Below Zero, among others . In 2009 the band recorded their first music album "New Resolution", which was released on February 23, 2010. On January 24th, 2012 the second album "One For Sorrow" followed. The trio toured and played in May 2013 at the Highlands Festival in Amersfoort (Netherlands), alongside bands and musicians such as Ten Years After , Ryan McGarvey and Pat Travers .

In spring 2013 it became apparent that Richardson would leave the band after eight years for professional reasons. Pohlmann decided to break up the band and work as a solo artist from then on. With this step he developed his music in a harder and rockier way. With his long-time producer Thomas Hannes Pohlmann decided in summer 2013 to write a rock album influenced by the 1970s. He found the ex- Henrik Freischlader drummer Daniel Guthausen and the young bassist Dennis Bowens as accompanists.

On January 16, 2015, his album "Taylor Road" was released by Black Penny Records .

Pohlmann studied computer science and completed a year abroad in Aachen. He found his first job as an IT consultant in Düsseldorf and (as of 2016) works as a project manager for an international IT group in Düsseldorf. He resides there and is married to a British woman.
