Kristian Anderson

Kristian Anderson (* 1975 ; † January 2, 2012 in Sydney ) was an Australian blogger and video editor , who became best known for a public birthday video directed at his wife.

After Anderson was diagnosed with colon and liver cancer in October 2009 , he ran the widely read How the lights get in blog for two years, reporting on his life with the disease and encouraging other men to undergo medical checkups.

Anderson achieved worldwide fame when he posted a video in 2010 thanking his New Zealand wife Rachel for her support. The video was preceded by a message from New Zealand Prime Minister John Key . Anderson was also able to win over Australian actor Hugh Jackman for a short appearance in the video. Anderson's two sons were also in the video.
In late 2010, Anderson and his wife were invited to the Oprah Winfrey Show , where they were presented with a six-figure sum for additional medical expenses and possible vacation.

Anderson passed away on January 2, 2012 after falling into a coma shortly after the New Year .
