Kristian Schreiner
Kristian Emil Schreiner (born July 29, 1874 in Aker near Oslo ; † May 3, 1957 ibid) was a Norwegian anthropologist and professor of anatomy .
Kristian Schreiner was the sixth son of the wholesaler Christian Emil Schreiner (1829–1879) and Bethy Gerhardine Bødtker (1832–1910). He was a relative of the educator Emil Schreiner .
Since September 15, 1900, Kristian Schreiner was married to the doctor Alette Falch (1873-1951). Her son Johan (1903–1967) became a historian and their son Fredrik (1905–1988) went into civil service.
He studied anatomy from 1899 to 1900 in Würzburg , 1900–1901 in Prague embryology and 1901–1902 in Liège cytology . He earned his doctorate in 1902 with his work on the development of the amniotic nerve . In 1904 he was promoted to research assistant at the Royal Frederick University in Oslo and in 1906 to the prosector . In 1908 Schreiner became a professor at the Anatomical Institute.
In 1929 he published together with Halfdan Bryn the work The Somatology of the Norwegians after investigations on recruits . However, Schreiner was not concerned with racial hygiene . He was fired by the Nazi occupiers of Norway and imprisoned in the Grini Police Detention Center from September 12, 1941 to July 3, 1942 . His son Johan was also arrested.
After the occupation ended, Schreiner ended his career as a professor from spring to autumn 1945.
