After participating in junior competitions and racing series, such as the Austrian school championships, the MIDEU Cup and the FIS school championships, Hetfleisch has been competing in FIS and World Cup races since the 2012 season . She made her debut in FIS races on June 2, 2012 in the Altenseelbach slalom , where she immediately celebrated her first victory. The first World Cup races followed three weeks later, in which she was able to place fifth. Hetfleisch mostly achieved results in the good midfield at the Junior World Championships 2012 in Burbach : She was fifth in slalom, sixth in giant slalom and super-G and seventh in super combination. One month later, at the World Cup races in Dizin at the end of August, she made her breakthrough to the top of the world when she emerged as the winner in all three races (once giant slalom and twice Super-G). At the end of the season, another victory in the Super Combined followed at her home race in Rettenbach , with which she finished second in the overall World Cup behind the Italian Ilaria Sommavilla .
