Kristina Marlen is a German sex worker, performance artist, author, actress and sex positive feminist .

Life

Marlen first studied cultural studies , gender studies and law and graduated as a physiotherapist in 2006 . She developed her own method of bodywork, in which she combined her training as a dancer (Contact Improvisation, Contemporary Dance, BMC ) with her medical knowledge.

Since 2008 she has also started to deal with the aspect of sexuality and eroticism in bodywork , because these are omitted from all medical and alternative healing methods. She developed a ritual in which elements of tantric massage as well as BDSM are integrated. She describes her work as lying between therapy, performance and service and consciously emphasizes that the transitions are fluid. Since 2009, visits to Schwelle 7, founded by Felix Ruckert , a place of encounter and performance that represented a kind of interface between performance art , self-awareness , body work, staging and interaction in Berlin , have been particularly formative for her . Between 2010 and 2017, among other things, she continued her education there and specialized in bondage , the art of erotic restraint. She took further training and a. at Hajime Kinoko, Nawashi Kanna, Felix Ruckert, Yoroi Nicolas, Ren Yagami, Gorgone, Miu-Miu, Riccardo Wildties, Soptik Zet, Matthias Grimme and others.

The combination of Japanese-inspired rope bondage and dance and performative aspects led to her own form of "Sense and Rope", which Kristina Marlen teaches in Germany and around the world. The focus is on the interaction between the captivating and tied person, the movement and the aesthetics of the moment to which they may be. a. teaches in Berlin, Helsinki, Prague, Sweden, Denmark, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Zurich. In this context, the interactive performance "Instant Intimacy", which was shown at the Berlin Porn Film Festival from 2013 to 2017, was created.

The connection between performance, body art, dance, sexuality, touch and healing is the motor for their creative work. Kristina Marlen has been working full-time as a sex worker since 2010 , she performs as a singer and dancer and teaches workshops on sexual research and self-determination. For them, the question of a culture of consensus in sexual encounters came more and more into their focus, especially during the #Metoo movement . The question of how we can preserve and communicate personal boundaries in intimate encounters, but also expand them, is a field of research and experimentation for her. Since 2013 she has been involved in the whore movement in connection with the protests against the Prostitute Protection Act . She is a member of the BesD (professional association for sexual and erotic services). She publishes and campaigns for sexual self-determination and the respect, rights and recognition of sex workers in the context of panel discussions and protest events. She appears as a spokesperson on the subject of sex positivity and draws a feminist perspective on sex work. In this context, she was an interview partner in a variety of media in newspapers / magazines, radio and television. She teaches her method of sexual and conscious bodywork in Europe and worldwide. The training is aimed at private individuals as well as people who work professionally with sexuality.

The science fiction film Fluidø by Shu Lea Cheang , in which she plays one of the leading roles, was shown in the Panorama section of the 67th Berlin International Film Festival in 2017 .

Since 2015 she has been focusing on female sexuality and specifically addressing female customers in order to rewrite the patriarchal structures in prostitution and to strengthen female sexuality. The fight against censorship in particular of female sexuality, the stigmatization of sex workers and the sanctioning of all people who are sexually assessed as "different" is the subject of her political action and writing. In her blog she writes on the topics of feminism, sexual self-determination of women, the vision of a sexual culture for all genders and "the potent woman".
