Crown donation

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Crown endowment is the total income that a monarch and his house receive from state funds.

The opposite is the prince's private fortune.

The crown endowment consists of either:

  • an annual pension, which is paid from the state treasury,
  • Income that flows from the domains in whole or in part into the court treasury, or
  • as in Prussia , certain complexes of property that have been declared as Kronfideikommiss, which are inalienable, and whose discarding belongs to the crown endowment.

In Prussia, an annual pension of 2,573,098 thalers from the income of the domains and forests was assigned to the royal house by the law of January 17, 1820 , which was increased by 500,000 thalers annually by the law of April 30, 1850 . The law of January 27, 1868 , regarding the increase in the crown donation, added a further pension of 1 million thalers from the state treasury.

In addition, certain locks and accessories are reserved for the exclusive use of the king, assuming the maintenance burden on the Kronfideikommissfonds .
