The Kronprinz-Lichtspiele were a cinema in the Landshut house of the Crown Prince . Until it closed in 2003, it was considered one of the oldest cinemas in Germany.

The old town house was built around 1460 by the ducal councilor Dr. Martin Mair built. From 1481 to 1503 the office of Duke George the Rich was located there . Later the ducal or electoral government was housed here. The classicist facade dates from around 1780. In memory of Prince Ludwig's student days in the summer of 1803, it has been called "Zum Kronprinz" since 1815. In 1815 the building, which had been in ducal ownership until then, was transformed into the feudal hotel "Kronprinz" with the classicist facade still preserved today. In 1912 Ignatz Wimmer senior took over the hotel and had it converted into a cinema. It remained in the family ownership of the Wimmers, first Anna Wimmer then Ignatz Wimmer . In 1976 another room named "Prinzes" was added. In 2003 it was closed due to the purchase of Kinopolis and the construction of a cinema in the CCL .
