The Kronprinz-Rupprecht-Brunnen is a double-bowl fountain in Munich between the Munich Residence and the Marstall , the former riding school.

It was created in 1961 by the sculptor Bernhard Bleeker and installed in the same year. On a ball, which in turn rests on a column, stands the naked figure of Justitia , holding the scales of justice in her right hand and on the other hand a Pallas Athene , who stands for victory as well as for art and science. Below the figure there are two bowl wells and a slightly raised collecting basin. The fountain is dedicated to the former Crown Prince Rupprecht , the son of the last Bavarian King Ludwig III. from the House of Wittelsbach . The crown prince's monogram is on the middle column: a curved R with the crown of the Kingdom of Bavaria . The fountain is made of bronze , the lower collecting basin is made of shell limestone .

The fountain was commissioned by the Bavarian Academy of Sciences , which has been housed in the north-east wing of the residence since 1959 and whose main entrance is next to the fountain. Because of his cultural and historical interests, Crown Prince Rupprecht was an honorary member of the academy from 1911 and was also considered an opponent of National Socialism.
