Krzysztof Andrzej Hetman (born June 27, 1974 in Lublin ) is a Polish civil servant and politician of the Polskie Stronnictwo Ludowe (PSL). From 2007 to 2010 he was Under- Secretary of State in the Ministry of Regional Development, from 2010 to 2014 Voivodeship Marshal of the Lublin Voivodeship and has been a member of the European Parliament in the 8th electoral term since 2014 .

Education and professional career

Krzysztof Hetman studied political science at the Maria Curie Skłodowska University in Lublin . He then worked for an open pension fund from 1999 and also took postgraduate studies at the private university for entrepreneurship and administration in Lublin, which he graduated in 2002.

From July 2002, Hetman was Deputy Head and from August 2005 Head of the Strategy and Regional Development Department in the Marshal's Office of the Lublin Voivodeship. In 2007 he was appointed Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Regional Development. Its main tasks included the implementation of the Operational Program for the Development of Eastern Poland, the European Territorial Cooperation Programs , the European Neighborhood and Partnership Instrument (ENPI) and the coordination of the implementation of regional programs.

From December 1, 2010 to June 24, 2014, Hetman was Voivodeship Marshal of the Lublin Voivodeship.

Political career

In 2006 candidate Hetman in the municipal elections unsuccessfully for a seat in the City Council of Lublin. In the 2011 parliamentary elections , he applied for a mandate in the Sejm of the Republic of Poland . He ran for the Polskie Stronnictwo Ludowe in constituency No. 6 on list position 1 and received 10,804 (2.35%) of the valid votes cast. Although he was able to win a mandate for the Sejm, he did not take it up; Henryk Smolarz moved up for him .

In the 2014 European elections , he stood for his party on list position 2 in constituency No. 8 and was able to win one of the two mandates in the constituency with 24,862 (6.22%) of the valid votes cast. During the entire 8th electoral term, as a member of the Group of the European People's Party (Christian Democrats) (EPP), he was a member of the Committee on Regional Development (REGI) and of the delegation to the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly (DACP). In the 2019 European elections , he ran for a second term in the European Parliament in the same constituency on list number 1 of the electoral committee Koalicja Europejska PO PSL SLD .N Zieloni and was re-elected with 105,908 (14.31%) of the valid votes cast.

Within the Polskie Stronnictwo Ludowe, Hetman has been the chairman of the PSL in the Lublin Voivodeship since June 2010 and as the party's vice-chairman at the national level since December 2012.

Honors

In September 2012, Hetman was awarded the Golden Cross of Merit of the Republic of Poland .
