Krzysztof January Krawczyk (born September 8, 1946 in Katowice , † April 5, 2021 in Łódź ) was a Polish pop singer , guitarist and songwriter . He had a characteristic baritone voice and from 1973 numerous successes. His music combines elements from rock 'n' roll , country and rhythm & blues .

Life

His career began in the early 1960s. He has released numerous albums with his band and as a solo singer, many of which have been awarded gold and platinum. The Polish daily Superexpress counted him among the best-known Polish artists of 2001. His recordings were not only made in Poland, but also in Germany (for Polydor) and in the USA (collaboration with David Briggs, the former arranger of Elvis Presley ). In the course of this collaboration many songs in the style of Presley were created, which also had an impact on his personal development. In 2000 he received an award from BMG Poland, for which he recorded the album Papa was a Rolling Stone , arranged by the young Polish arranger Smolik. This was followed in 2001 by a collaboration with Goran Bregović for his album Daj mi drugie zycie (Give me a second life) in Polish. He died in April 2021 at the age of 74 from complications from a long-standing illness.
