history

In 1921, Hugo Kuemmerling began developing a herbal liqueur in Deesbach (Thuringia). The secret recipe of the drink was devised in 1938. The company was founded in 1945 in what is now the floodplain of the Leibis-Lichte dam , a memorial stone today commemorates it. The move to Coburg in Bavaria took place in 1949. However, it was not until the mid-1950s that Hugo's son-in-law Johannes Persch created the successful industrial production and marketing of the herbal liqueur, which is now sold worldwide.

In 1963, production was again relocated to Bodenheim , which was to remain the production site for over 50 years.

Kuemmerling GmbH, which was independent until 2001, was taken over by the British spirits group Allied Domecq . As a diversification , Kuemmerling Orange came onto the market in 2004 . When Allied Domecq was sold to Pernod-Ricard in 2005 , Kuemmerling was spun off to the American group Fortune Brands . The company's name was changed to Beam Global Operations Deutschland GmbH . There are currently 55 employees. Besides Kuemmerling the Traditions are still wine brand Jacobi 1880 and the blight bottled Prince Bismarck in Bodenheim.

The Federal Cartel Office has approved the takeover of the brands Kuemmerling Kräuterlikör, Fürst Bismarck Doppelkorn and Jacobi 1880 Alter Weinbrand by Henkell & Co. Sektkellerei KG on September 1, 2010.
