The Kujira Point ( Japanese 鯨 岬 Kujira-misaki , German ' Walkap ' , Norwegian Kvalodden ) is a small headland , the northern foothills of the island Padda in the Lützow-Holm Bay off the Prince Harald coast of the East Antarctic Queen Maud -Lands forms.
Norwegian cartographers mapped this cape using aerial photographs taken during the Lars Christensen expedition in 1936/37 . Scientists on a Japanese Antarctic expedition that lasted from 1957 to 1962 mapped it again and gave it its name. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names transferred the Japanese designation in 1968 in a partial translation into English.
