Schorndorf cultural forum

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Kulturforum Schorndorf is an association founded in 1988 that organizes the cultural work of the city of Schorndorf in terms of direct citizen participation. Voluntarily run sections develop cultural programs in the fields of art, music, literature, theater as well as the preservation of homeland, nature and tradition. The structure designed for civic participation is an example of the "culture for everyone" demanded by Hilmar Hoffmann since the 1970s . With the Q Gallery for Art , the Kulturforum operates its own museum.

history

The idea of the Kulturforum Schorndorf goes back to the Baden-Württemberg Literature Days, which were held in Schorndorf in 1984 and showed the possibilities of voluntary cultural work. As a result, citizens of the city united to form different sections. Since it was officially founded in 1988, the Kulturforum has “bundled the commitment of many forces in Schorndorf's cultural scene and has thus become a hub for cultural activities”.

Projects

Since a sculpture symposium organized by the Kulturforum in 1987 before it was officially founded, a sculpture tour has been taking place in Schorndorf , which currently includes 45 works of art. Represented artists are Fritz von Graevenitz , Timm Ulrichs , Robert Schad and Martin Pfeifle .

The Kulturforum has been organizing the Schorndorfer Guitar Days since 1990. In addition to concerts, the program is mainly characterized by workshops in which musicians such as Carl Verheyen and Jennifer Batten appear as lecturers.

In the Q Gallery for Art , the Kulturforum Schorndorf shows exhibitions by contemporary artists. The museum is located on the premises of the former Arnold iron furniture factory and was opened in 2004 as a gallery for art and technology . In 2016 the name was changed to Q Galerie.
