In 1897, the Königs Festsäle dance and entertainment venue opened on the property at Treskowallee 87 (since the renumbering in 1961: Treskowallee 112) . In 1917 a cinema with 560 seats was added, which had changing names (Karlshorster Lichtspiele, First Karlshorster Lichtbildtheater, Karlshorster Film- und Bühnenschau). The building had been badly damaged in the last days of the war and was repaired without the small dome and without facade decorations. From 1945 to 1966 the Soviet Army used the house as an officers' casino, because the Soviet military administration, its secret services and some troops were stationed in Karlshorst. In 1966 the house was handed over to the GDR and became the Lichtenberg District Culture House . The Tarnovo restaurant was located on the ground floor and there were music lessons, ballet, dance, drawing and textile courses in the rooms. Since the 1970s, the house has been a place of worship for jazz and Dixieland . In 1989 a collection of signatures for the citizens 'movement Neues Forum was held in the hall of the Kulturhaus , and their first citizens' meeting took place here on November 20th of that year. In 1989/90 the Karlshorst Round Table met in the building . In 1990 the house was named Kulturhaus Karlshorst .

After the fall of the Wall , the property came into the possession of the Lichtenberg District Office. The office had minor alterations carried out and ensured that the Shostakovich Music School as well as numerous choirs and cultural associations were given rooms there from spring 2009 ; The Zimmer Theater Karlshorst played there until the end of September 2010. On September 28th, all cultural activities in the house were stopped because it could no longer be used without renovation. After a tender in 2009, the district administration found the company Lührs & Holst City Projekte GmbH & Co KG as the buyer . In the summer of 2009 there was a (final) exhibition on their own history in the rooms of the house. The demolition of the building began in April 2011 with the dismantling of the large-format neon sign Kreiskulturhaus , which was then handed over to the Berlin Letter Museum.

Demolition and reconstruction went as planned, so that the complex was inaugurated on May 4, 2012. The majority of the building complex contains shops and offices. In the summer of 2013, the facades received six large-format murals on Dönhoffstrasse and on the courtyard side, designed by the Lichtenberg artist Christian Awe .
