The Zimmer Theater Karlshorst (ZK) is a Berlin amateur theater run by the “Theater im 12. Stock” e. V. is operated.
history
The room theater came from the East Berlin teacher ensemble “Dr. Theodor Neubauer ”, which, as a sponsored institution of the GDR trade union“ Teaching and Education ”, had its seat and its performance and rehearsal opportunities in the teacher's house on Alexanderplatz . From 1991 to 2010 it resided in the Kulturhaus Karlshorst , Treskowallee 112 in Berlin-Karlshorst . Since the construction of the new Kulturhaus in the same place, it has had its headquarters as a room theater in the KULTschule since 2011 in the KULTschule in the neighboring district of Berlin-Friedrichsfelde , Sewanstrasse 43. For this purpose, a former classroom was converted into a cabaret in the KULTschule sociocultural center. The building formerly housed the Niels Bohr secondary school. After completion of the new culture house in spring 2012, the room theater will also appear there, but the KULT school will remain the main venue.
program
In the ensemble's more than 50 cabaret programs in musical and literary form, classical cabaret is represented by Kurt Tucholsky , Erich Kästner , Friedrich Hollaender and Otto Reutter , among others . The repertoire also includes current satire and Berlin-specific programs. The theater group also appears on Lichtenberg open-air stages as well as in schools, senior citizens' clubs and social institutions. It counts more than 2000 guests per year.
