List of streets and squares in Berlin-Karlshorst
The list of streets and squares in Berlin-Karlshorst describes the system of existing, even some earlier streets, squares and allotments in today's district Karlshorst of Lichtenberg . At the same time, this compilation is one of the lists of all Berlin streets and squares .
overview
On May 25, 1895, Wilhelm von Waldow , the district administrator of the Niederbarnim district , signed the "Colonie Consensus" for the future Carlshorst villa and country house settlement. This day is considered to be the founding day of Karlshorst. First of all, the Prinzenviertel (named after the sons of Kaiser Wilhelm II ) was built south of the Lower Silesian-Märkische Eisenbahn according to plans by the builder Oscar Gregorovius , after 1900 the area north of the railway line was built on.
Since the first streets of today's district were mostly built on the drawing board, the building areas were divided up relatively regularly. In 1910, 22 streets were renamed at the same time. Between 1930 and 1940 the settlement was expanded with a corresponding number of new streets. Local politicians often honor their names.
Streets and squares named after historical Greek and Roman personalities, assigned from the 1910s primarily for a traffic route system west of Treskowallee in its northern area, were not laid out except for Aristotelessteig, Caesarstrasse and Sokratesweg. In the table below there are also 22 streets whose layout and names were planned around 1915 under the impression of the Second Boer War in the former colony of German South West Africa (according to locations, landscapes and people). For many years they were included in the street directory as "undeveloped" and almost all disappeared from the address books between 1929 and 1930. Dewetallee, Frankestrasse, Ohm-Krüger-Strasse, Warmbader Strasse and Waterbergstrasse were renamed in GDR times.
The district is divided into smaller residential areas, such as the 'Prinzenviertel' and the ' Waldsiedlung Wuhlheide ' in the south-west, the 'Heimatviertel' in the north-west, the 'Rheinische Viertel' in the south-east, the 'Carlsgarten' residential area on former parts of the Karlshorst trotting course .
After the political turnaround , when the Soviet Army left the GDR in 1994 , buildings and parts of the former army spy school of the Wehrmacht were vacated in Karlshorst , where the KGB command center had been housed until then . Since 2010, a new residential area has gradually been built there, the garden city Karlshorst . The so far 18 new streets have been given names of places in the Bavarian district of Regen and of Bergen in the Bavarian Forest .
Karlshorst and its streets are first listed in the Berlin address book in 1897.
Karlshorst has 27,956 inhabitants (as of December 30, 2019). Almost all streets in Karlshorst have the postal code 10318, only a few properties on the Blockdammweg are assigned the postal code 10317.

Old or only planned streets or squares
This list of all former or only planned traffic routes is structured in the same way as the one above and is mutually linked. Street lengths and geographic coordinates are not listed. The online Berlin city map from 1926 and the years of the Berlin address books from the August Scherl publishing house from 1897–1943 online served as sources. The origins of the names of the streets after places, events or people from today's Namibia (former colony of German South West Africa) or the Republic of South Africa was largely compiled by the Luisenstadt Educational Association using the directory of historical streets . The years have been compared with the respective address books and adjusted if necessary.
