Zachenberg is a municipality in the Lower Bavarian district of Regen and a member of the Ruhmannsfelden administrative association .

Geographical location

Zachenberg is located in the Danube Forest region in the Teisnachtal in the middle of the Bavarian Forest at the northern foot of the Einödriegel (1121 m) and on the Pfahl , about 17 km southeast of Viechtach , twelve km west of the district town of Regen and 18 km north of Deggendorf ( A 92 ). In the municipality there are two Waldbahn stations in Gotteszell Bahnhof and in Triefenried. These offer hourly connections with Plattling and Bayerisch Eisenstein .

Until the church is planted

Zachenberg belonged to the Straubing Rent Office and the Viechtach Regional Court of the Electorate of Bavaria . The Gotteszell Monastery held here until its abolition in 1803 the lower jurisdiction over its single-layer subjects (open court marque ). In the district of Gotteszell Bahnhof , the station named after the neighboring community is located on the Plattling - Zwiesel - Bayerisch Eisenstein line . It is served every hour. Since 1928, the Regentalbahn AG route towards Viechtach has been branching off in Gotteszell . This continued to Blaibach until 1991 , where it was connected to the Cham – Lam railway line .

The federal highway 11 runs not far from the community between Patersdorf and Deggendorf .

Memorial to the murdered slave laborer Jozef Trzeciak

Memorial stone for Josef Trzeciak; the inscription reads: Executed as an innocent victim of tyranny and racism

On May 8, 2012, the 70th anniversary of the execution of the Polish slave laborer Józef Trzeciak , a memorial stone was unveiled in the immediate vicinity of the place of execution.

Jozef Trzeciak was assigned to a farm in the municipality of Zachenberg as a forced laborer. A love affair developed with a 16-year-old granddaughter of the farmer who owned the farm. Jozef Trzeciak was hanged for this, and the girl was temporarily sent to a concentration camp.

The memorial stone in Zachenberg is the first memorial stone for an executed Polish slave laborer. In Lower Bavaria and the Upper Palatinate, Thomas Muggenthaler documented a total of 22 such crimes in his book Verbrechen Liebe .

Shortly after leaving Zachenberg in the direction of Köckersried , an old bus shelter was redesigned by a local carpenter so that it now has the shape of a plane under the name of the bus stop plane. It is the only planing shelter in the world.
