history
Until the church is planted
The place was populated by Bavaria early on. Around the year 950, Count Arno, from the dynasty of the Counts von Bogen, was in mortal danger when crossing a torrent. With the help of a settler he was able to save himself. As a thank you, Count Arno had a bridge built at this point: the Arno Bridge.
The open Hofmark Arnbruck was initially owned by the Counts of Bogen . On July 9, 1209, Count Bertold III. the village of Arnbruck the Niederalteich monastery . The parish and the parish church of St. Bartholomew are also mentioned in the deed of donation. In 1254 Arnbruck counted 22 goods. Only eight properties were added by the beginning of the 19th century. Johann Jennerwein was the first teacher in Arnbruck as early as 1656, and there was a schoolhouse at least since 1685.
The monastic Hofmark was dissolved in 1803. In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria , today's municipality was created with the municipal edict of 1818 .
19th and 20th centuries
In 1848 the manor was abolished. Due to the growing number of students, a new school building was built in 1832 and an additional school building in 1889, the first entirely made of stone. The old schoolhouse had to be closed in 1934 due to the risk of collapse. In September 1937, a new school building opened on the western outskirts. It contains a fresco by the Munich artist Alfons Epple, which depicts the legend of the salvation of the local founder Arno von Bogen. The second school building was sold in 1938 to the Raiffeisen loan office, which expanded the building into a bank.
For a long time Arnbruck was shaped entirely by agriculture. Up to the middle of the 20th century, the stream was characterized by its special water purity, so that many river pearl mussels with pearls were found there. Contemporary witnesses report that in the economically lean years before the beginning of the Second World War , young people earned pocket money by collecting pearls that could be sold as far as Prague , Vienna and Berlin . Most of the pearls found (up to 100 kilograms in good years) were too small for jewelry production and were ground into pearl flour, which was used in the surrounding glass factories for iridescence of high-quality jewelry glasses. The abundance of fish was also famous. In addition to fishing and pearl collecting, the place lived mainly from forestry and the conservation of mushrooms and berries in the wooded area. The Arnbrucker mixed mushrooms have been a specialty since time immemorial.
