Karlshorster and New Friedrichsfelder Friedhof
The Karlshorster and Neue Friedrichsfelder Friedhof is a cemetery of the Evangelical Paul-Gerhardt-Kirchengemeinde Lichtenberg in Berlin-Karlshorst . It is administered by the Evangelical Cemetery Association Berlin South-East.
location
The cemetery at Robert-Siewert-Straße 57-67 was laid out in 1902. Its area is 7.7 hectares . The route of the U5 underground line runs on its north side . With more than 850 deciduous and coniferous trees, it has a park-like character. There are two natural monuments in the cemetery : a Douglas fir and a common ivy .
The cemetery chapel based on a design by Johannes Ernst was completed in 1905. It is a listed building. In 1907 the Protestant parish Karlshorst separated from the mother parish Friedrichsfelde. Since then the cemetery has consisted of two burial sites. The chapel is located on the Karlshorster cemetery section, but is used jointly by both parishes.
In the entrance area of the administration building and in the waiting hall in front of the chapel, a biographical exhibition of personalities who are buried in the cemetery is shown.
The animal cemetery "Im Wiesengrund" has existed in the northern part of the site since November 2007 .
