Manfred Rosenberg
Manfred Rosenberg (born August 31, 1929 ; † June 16, 2020 in Berlin ) was a German conductor .
Life
Rosenberg passed his Abitur in Dahme / Mark together with Erwin Patzke . Another classmate was Werner Pfeiffer, author of the book “Abgeholt. Chronicle of a Stolen Youth ”. Rosenberg studied in Berlin and initially worked as Kapellmeister at the Mecklenburg State Theater in Schwerin . From 1973 to 1991 he was director and chief conductor of the DEFA symphony orchestra , the only film orchestra in the GDR. As such, he was involved in the production of around 700 DEFA films, including Die Legende von Paul und Paula (1973), Hiev up (1978), the Spring Symphony (1983), The Christmas Goose Auguste (1988) and the last from Da Da eR (1990). On June 22, 1991, Rosenberg conducted the DEFA Symphony Orchestra's farewell concert on the occasion of the Potsdam Sanssouci Music Festival . The orchestra opened in 1993 with the RBT orchestra in the Babelsberg German Film Orchestra , for which Rosenberg remained active. In addition, he worked as an arranger , composer and piano accompanist for various singers such as Reiner Süß , René Kollo and Johannes Heesters .
The Brandenburg Prime Minister Manfred Stolpe awarded him the title of General Music Director in 2002 .
Manfred Rosenberg was married to Edelgard Arndt-Rosenberg for the second time. A son comes from the first marriage. The writer Birgit Vanderbeke is his niece.
He died in June 2020 at the age of 90 and was buried in the cemetery in Berlin-Karlshorst .
