The list of streets and squares in Berlin-French Buchholz describes the street system in the Berlin district of Berlin-French Buchholz ( Pankow district ) with historical references. At the same time, this compilation is part of the lists of all Berlin streets and places .

overview

statistics

The district of French Buchholz includes the postal code area 13127 and has 21,281 inhabitants (as of December 30, 2019). The list includes three named places and 144 dedicated residential, private and city streets. Twelve of the streets of the same name also belong to neighboring districts. The roads have a total length of 70.4 kilometers, the public road network in the entire Pankow district is 604.7 kilometers long and the third longest district network, in French Buchholz is eight percent (of 13 districts in the district). One reason for this is the large number of settlement houses with a correspondingly longer street length per inhabitant. The total length of the streets in the overview does not match the one given in the official list, because in the RBS parallel lanes are sometimes also separately listed.

history

The addition "French" in the place name was introduced around 1810 to distinguish it from other Prussian communities of this name during the Napoleonic occupation. Before the First World War 1913, when there were tensions with France, this addition was omitted for the municipality of Berlin-Buchholz in the Niederbarnim district . When the municipality was detached and incorporated into Greater Berlin , the Buchholz district was created in the Pankow administrative district. After the political change , the addition was accepted again as part of the Berlin reorganization in 1999. When choosing a name for the streets in Buchholz-West, a reference to the Huguenots was sought, after colonist families in Buchholz and events in France during the Huguenot period.

The actual settlement core of the Angerdorf is located along the main street with the village church at the confluence with Mühlenstraße . “In the local area, roads led to Blankenburg, Buch, Niederschönhausen and Blankenfelde and the road to Berlin [today: Prenzlauer Allee , Prenzlauer Promenade, Pasewalker Straße and Berliner Straße ]. The historic part of the center of Buchholz is located between Bucher Strasse and Blankenfelder Strasse, which branches off to the right. ”After the Thirty Years' War , around half of the farms and cottages in Buchholz were without owners. In 1685, the Great Elector published the Edict of Potsdam , which offered the Huguenots asylum. After that settled first six gardeners and ten Kossäten with Calvinist faith from France, Huguenots. In 1687 the immigrants came to the village, which belonged to the royal domain Mühlenhof . They paid an annual rent and formed their own church community. Around 1700 they made up a third of the village's population with 69 people in 17 families.

Road system

The north-south street in the district from the Pasewalker over the Berlin to the main street was laid out as "Actienchaussee". An Actienchaussee was a street laid out with private capital, "listed by an association of several private individuals [...] and entitled to levy the customary road toll for certain years, after which the state levies it." "The Actien-Chaussee, which in contrast to the Königschaussee begins at Prenzlauer Thor and leads to French Buchholz. [...] The latter will be extended from this village to Prenzlau at the expense of the Uckermark knighthood. "

Still makes this historical main road 109 B the Arterial Road from Berlin. However, since the 1980s it has been relieved by the A 114 , which is reached in the north with the interchanges (AS) Bucher Straße and Schönerlinder Straße and in the south of the district with the AS Pasewalker Straße. 4,670 meters of the Berlin motorway ring road and 10,960 meters of the Pankow motorway slip road in the superordinate and 1,820 meters of the entry / exit AS Bucher Straße in the large-scale road system according to the Berlin Road Development Plan (StEP) run across the territory of the district . The road surface east of the main street is still originally a large-headed pavement , with the south side paved and the north side paved in Gravensteinstraße to Eddastraße , today the sign of a former summer path .

The geographical and historical conditions are the basis of the valid road network. On the high altitude west of the village center, there is a large number of - partly newly constructed - streets in the Buchholz-West residential area with private homes and partial apartment buildings that were previously farmland, meadow areas and gardens. In the north, Bucher Strasse runs east-west through fields and natural areas that were used by sewage farms from the end of the 19th to the middle of the 20th century. To Rosenthal, as well as in the northwest and along the Pankeniederung (in the east of the district) there are allotment gardens with garden paths, but without paved official roads. The names of the new streets around 1900, such as Gravensteinstrasse from the village green to the east, demonstrate the increasing settlement by Berlin citizens in the surrounding “natural suburbs”. French Buchholz had been a destination for Berlin citizens since the early 19th century and around the 1900s there was an attempt to create a climatic health resort. (see Suzettestrasse , as well as the information on the Buchholz-Ost residential area)

"Country houses are the most tasteful in front of the Potsdamer and Brandenburger Gates , in Thiergarten , then also in [...] French = Buchholz [...]"

- from JGA Ludwig Helling

The most recent change in the street system was made by housing estates on the western edge of the district with new residential buildings on abandoned allotment garden colonies, the Buchholz-West residential area. In the late 1990s, many streets were laid out and named here. Due to the increase in the number of inhabitants, tram line 50 was extended from the previous end point in the village center by four stops to Guyotstraße in 2000 , the end loop is in the Blankenfelde district.

When naming the streets built after 1990 or changed during the course of the year, the name of the street was consistently used with French references. The previous names of the allotment gardens were translated into French terms, and the KGA “Familienglück” was the model for Le Bonheur and La Famille streets. Places and themes from Calvinist history in France were consulted, as well as personalities who had rendered outstanding services to the mutual relationship, such as Ferdinand-Buisson-Strasse and Ludwig-Quidde-Strasse , two Nobel Peace Prize winners who took part in the context of the First World War of the League of Nations for the reconciliation between Germany and France. The history of the Brandenburg region is also represented, for example in Zeuchelstrasse, a master chef of the Brandenburg margrave Eisenzahn.

In the middle of the 2010s, more streets were dedicated, some of which were rededicated from the colony paths as part of georeferencing. In 2013, 19 street names were added according to apple varieties in the existing 'Gravensteiner facility' and at the beginning of 2014 seven streets were added to French cities in the 'Buchholz-Ost' settlement area, which was built on the site of a disused nursery.

Overview of streets and squares

The following table gives an overview of the streets and squares in the district as well as some related information.

  • Name / location : current name of the street or square. Via the link Location , the street or the square can be displayed on various map services. The geoposition indicates the approximate center of the street length.
  • Traffic routes not listed in the official street directory are marked with * .
  • Former or no longer valid street names are in italics . A separate list may be available for important former streets or historical street names.
  • Length / dimensions in meters:
The length information contained in the overview are rounded overview values that were determined in Google Earth using the local scale. They are used for comparison purposes and, if official values are known, are exchanged and marked separately.
For squares, the dimensions are given in the form a × b for rectangular systems and for (approximately) triangular systems as a × b × c with a as the longest side.
If the street continues into neighboring districts, the addition ' in the district ' indicates how long the street section within the district of this article is.
  • Name origin : origin or reference of the name.
  • Notes : further information on adjacent monuments or institutions, the history of the street and historical names.
  • Image : Photo of the street or an adjacent object.

More than 30 streets in the district are marked by numbers without a street name customary in the area. The streets marked with (*) are listed in city maps or have been otherwise named (e.g. as the owner's private street). Colony paths in allotment garden colonies (e.g. Goethe-, Schillerstraße or Blaubeer-, Cranberry Path) were ignored in the table. The streets of Berlin are sorted into different categories, the StEP class comes from the street development plan, the RBS class is derived from the street directory of the regional reference system (RBS) and the OKSTRA class is a categorization from the object catalog for roads and transport ( OKSTRA). The total length of the streets in the overview does not match the one given in the official list, because in the RBS parallel lanes are sometimes also separately listed.

Planned and former streets

In the district, the entire Buchholz-West residential area with multi-family houses around Rosenthaler Weg was rebuilt on former garden colonies and agricultural land in the 1990s to 2010s . The new streets were extended into the remaining residential areas. On the other hand, existing allotment gardens were partially de-dedicated and developed by building companies with sellable homes, and on the other hand, at the request of Gartensiedler KGA, they were rededicated to building areas and housing developments. To the east of the Musikinstrumentenviertel, new streets with adapted names, such as Tuba-, Posaunenstraße - were built on KGA sites, while La Famille and La Bonheur streets were officially dedicated as private streets on the former KGA Familienglück .

The address book from 1943 contains the following numbered streets that have been named since 1995 (in brackets the cross streets from 1943).

The streets in the eastern part of the village along Gravensteinstraße and which were already expanded in 1990 probably still have the previous structure, here you will find mainly new single-family houses between old structures.

Other locations in French Buchholz

In the district there is extensive terrain that has been opened for the allotment garden movement. In the course of time, larger areas were reserved for the construction of the Buchholz-West housing estate. Allotment garden areas were claimed during the construction of the A 114 and there is still legal uncertainty about peripheral areas. Other allotments were used by building companies for building their own homes. Larger colonies such as the KGA 'Gravensteiner' were divested and opened up to housing estates with the option of building private homes. In the northeast of the district bordering Blankenfelde there are still large facilities that are protected according to the allotment garden development plan and are subject to the Federal Allotment Garden Act.

Allotment gardens

The allotment gardens in Berlin are determined according to the Federal Allotment Garden Act and their status was described by the Senate Department for Urban Development in the allotment garden development plan on the basis of land use plans and development plans. Some facilities were also converted into residential complexes at the request of the settlers. In the district, several garden colonies have been converted at the request of the settlers in order to enable the construction of houses, other allotment gardens have been dismantled in order to create building land for home building companies. After the Second World War , the housing shortage was great and many allotment garden owners converted their arbor into a permanent home and were able to live in their garden permanently with a special permit. The land between Dietzgenstrasse , Rosenthaler Weg , Blankenfelder and Schönerlinder Strasse is indicative of this .

KGA 'Hope'
KGA 'Gartenvörde' is accessible from Jean-Calas-Weg and Schützenstraße.
The KGA 'Edelweiß' has remained as an investment between the divested KGA.
KGA 'Sonnental'
The leisure colony 'Gravenstein' is located east of Ludwig-Quidde-Straße towards the Panke.

The facility is secured in time, but part of the facility on Bucher Strasse next to the flower wholesale market is already being used for other purposes. 24 parcels are on state-owned land (13,346 m²) and the 56 parcels with 13 permanent users on 38,263 m² of private land are intended for other uses. The Parkidyll colony on the extended Eddastraße has already been closed or has been included in Sonnental.

Housing estates and abandoned allotments

In addition to allotment gardens in accordance with the Federal Allotment Garden Act, there are also residential and leisure settlements in the district, the status of which has mainly been changed at the request of the residents. and the streets became officially dedicated streets with the status of private streets and were included in the above list. As private roads, they are subject to different requirements and responsibilities than public roads, but are still taken into account in the lists above. In the 2010s, large garden and settlement complexes in Berlin often had addresses for adjacent public roads with internal route names and parcel numbers. Such an address form cannot be georeferenced ; according to federal law, Berlin must introduce the ALKIS program system into the existing real estate cadastre . A “unique address with house number” is required for “geo-referenced building address”. In the district, new street names were assigned in coordination with the residents and owners, whereby the planning process checked whether these new street names are unique in the urban area (of the state) of Berlin .

  • The 'Blankenburg II' complex, of which the part to the west of the A 114 is located in the district, was not dedicated as an allotment garden at the request of the settlers and residents. As a result, in 2011 the system routes, which are mostly on the Blankenburg site, were renamed. The sites at Bahnhofstrasse 26 and 96 of the complex were marked with official street signs as Bush Sparrow and Steinsperlingweg .
  • The name of KGA 'Rosenthaler Straße 9' was officially confirmed on May 21, 2001 as KGA 'Familienglück'. In 2005 the use of the area as an allotment garden colony was canceled and it was cleared. The ring road leading through the complex was officially named in adaptation to the KGA name and the Huguenot history of French Buchholz after the French words for family and happiness in La Famille and Le Bonheur Strasse .
  • The garden colony 'Gellertstrasse 29' was named 'Profitable' in KGA on August 14, 1997. The KGA was abolished and August-Siebke-Strasse was dedicated on the site , which was built on by a building company with private homes.
Paths of the Buchholz allotment garden
  • 'Einsiedelring' housing estate: On August 14, 1997 the KGA 'Pasewalker Straße 33', KGA 'Pasewalker Straße 34', KGA 'Pasewalker Straße 50' and KGA 'Pasewalker Straße 51' were renamed KGA 'Einsiedel'. In November 2005, this allotment garden was redesigned into a housing estate and the Koloniestraße was dedicated as a (semi-public) private street to Einsiedelring .
  • The colony, Buchholz ', formerly a small garden, ( location ) lies on both sides of the North-west of the trench Schönhauserstraße and was on 15 August 1997 KGA, Buchholz's renamed. It is located south of Suzettestraße and Cevennenstraße . This KGA is no longer included in the allotment development plan and was developed with the unofficial garden paths (path 1) to (path 11). The part located south of the Nordgraben on the site of the former freight station (route 1) is separated from the KGA 'Rügen' and KGA 'Ostsee' by a storage area and its access. In the 2010s the plots of the canceled KGA (according to RBS 08321) will be opened for development. The properties of the facility were accessed via the facility address "Cevennenweg 33 / Schönhauser Straße 63 + internal route description + parcel number". This complex information was not sufficient for a georeferenceable address , which requires a unique building address (street name with house number) due to the nationwide introduction of ALKIS . At the request of the user community, the Pankow district administration reorganized, renamed and assigned house numbers and dedicated them to the BVV on March 10, 2015: Lilac Blossom Path, Mirabelle Blossom Path, Apple Blossom Path, Plum Blossom Path, Pear Blossom Path, Violet Blossom Path and Peach Blossom Path.
The northern part of the KGA Sonnental was abolished and converted into a residential area
  • In the allotment garden development plan, the following former KGA are also not currently listed and some have already been converted into residential areas or leisure colonies.
    • KGA 'On its own' ( location ), it was located on the southeast of Schillingweg between Hans-Schumacher- and Anna-Bruseberg-Straße .
    • The 'Glücksklee' colony ( location ) was located in the Schützenstrasse area between Triftstrasse and the Gartenvörde colony and was opened as a private home area. It has risen in Vienweg, to which plots 1–129 and 14–134 were assigned.
    • The 'Green Star' colony is no longer recorded under this name. ( Location ) It was adjacent to 'Am Feldweg' and 'Pappelgrund'. KGA 'Straße 180 Nr. 38' (44399) was renamed KGA 'Grüner Stern' on August 15, 1997 (the street number RBS 08323 is no longer listed). It was west of Baltrumstrasse opposite the KGA 'Pappelgrund', which is also only temporarily secured. The dissolved areas of KGA Sonnental were added to properties on Straße 180.
    • 'Schönerlinder Strasse' ( location ) on an area of 6.9 hectares is not mentioned in Berlin's allotment garden development plan.
    • KGA 'Ostsee' ( location ) is located west of the former industrial railway on the western edge of the district of Rosenthal on the (not officially recognized) Zoppoter Straße. The KGA 'Rügen' ( Lage ) is located south of it on the extended Zimbelstrasse and borders on Niederschönhausen . Both are no longer included in the development plan as of 2010 and will be converted into housing estates and therefore in the 2010s there are increasingly no gazebos, but single-family houses as private homes on these areas. The settlement 'Rügen' with the street number 08804 and annex 'Ostsee' (08823) are partly [out of date] with the prefix KGA in official documents and other maps.

  • For the area "an area that has been fallow since the beginning of the 1990s and was formerly used by a nursery" ( location ) in the south of the district between Dr.-Markus-Straße, Bahnhof- / Berliner Straße, west of Parkgraben and north of Ferdinand-Buisson -Straße a development plan "Buchholz-Ost" was drawn up. The former nursery had an area of approx. 11 hectares and the planning area was 20 hectares. Planstrasse A leads from Dr.-Markus-Strasse opposite Eddastrasse to the south, at the southern end there is a connection to the existing Strasse 160. From this southern end of Planstrasse A, Planstrasse B leads to Berliner Strasse through the existing gap in the property. A plan street D from Bahnhofstraße 6, north of the commercial area at the west end of Ferdinand-Buisson-Straße, opens up properties and is to be connected to Ludwig-Quidde-Straße across the park ditch with a footpath and cycle path . Ultimately, there is still a plan street C between the middle of plan street B and plan street D. The plan was drawn up because “the owner of the majority of this area intends to build single-family houses on the basis of an urban structural concept drawn up for the district”. The surroundings of the planned residential area for private homes are located in the middle of an existing settlement area with existing infrastructure that is to be developed according to plan. The investigations into the B-Plan began as early as 2008 and also include the contaminated site assessment. In addition, the development plans XIX-48a and XIX-48c are being drawn up for the area east of the park ditch , for the fallow area currently used as a dog run north of Strasse 160 and around the Ludwig property -Quidde-Strasse 41 . The streets initially laid out as plan streets (access streets) were named and dedicated on January 29, 2014 with the knowledge of BVV Pankow . The public streets were named Marseillestrasse (Planstrasse A), Lyonstrasse (Planstrasse B) and Nizzastrasse (Planstrasse C and D). The connecting private roads were named Brester Ring (private road III and IV), Grenobler Ring (private road V, VI, VII), Bordeauxstrasse (private road X) and Toulonstrasse (private road XIV). Several variants of the name were given by the owner, because of the location in the district, the French places were chosen by the office.

Parks and open spaces

  • The farmer Heinrich Guyot sold the area of 3.64  hectares for the cemetery IX (Rosenthaler Weg) ( Lage ) to the community in October 1871. Before that, the mayor Guyot had turned to the “Royal Domain Office Mühlenhof zu Berlin” with a request in March 1870 to be able to create a new burial place on the way to the mill. At the old churchyard cemetery, groundwater was encountered at three feet . Since then, the funerals have taken place here. The morgue was opened for use in 1910. The burial places of immigrant Huguenot families such as Chatron, Matthieu and Guyot are located here. The colonist families that have lived there for generations, such as Grunow, Ewest, Schultze, Pluntz, Blankenburg and Bock, also have their graves here.
  • Lenné or "donkey park" ( location ): There are only a few areas of the park, including the Elfenteich with 230 × 240 meters. In 1904, after Gravenstein's death, the land that the community did not want to buy was given to a "Terraingesellschaft" and was parceled out. Parkstrasse was laid through it and therefore has its name.
  • Krugpfuhl ( location ): A 215 × 120 meter green area, one of the largest amphibian spawning waters in the Pankow district. Located in the east of the KGA Krugpfuhl, north of a wasteland on the corner of Aubert- and Cunistraße.
  • In the north of the district between the B 109 and Bucher Straße there are green, forest and arable areas.
  • The nature reserve Karower Teiche ( Lage ) on 127 hectares west of the Panke and south of the railway line belongs to the district despite the name Karow in the name. To the south of the Lietzengraben are the four ponds, to the north of this river there is a forest area. The area is made accessible for hikers and cyclists for recreation and nature exploration through a system of trails.
  • In the south of the district there are noteworthy green and meadow areas as well as wet meadows ( location ) on the Panke, west of the A 114 motorway . These are located along the suburb of Blankenburg and are supplemented by allotment gardens.

  17. a b c d e f g h i j k l m n o p q r s t u “The naming of private roads is urgently needed. None of the properties or parcels in the Gravenstein facility currently have their own building address. A complete numbering of the properties or parcels in the Gravenstein facility is not possible via the adjacent public roads due to insufficient number stocks, even with the use of all permissible letters. "
  18. a b c d e f g h Printed matter VII-0910: Naming of seven private roads in the Buchholz facility in the French Buchholz district : At its meeting on March 10, 2015, the district office decided on seven private roads in the Buchholz facility, Cevennenstrasse 33 / Schönhauser Strasse 63 and submitted to the Pankow District Assembly on March 25, 2015 in accordance with Section 15 of the District Administration Act (BezVG). The designation was made at the request of an interest group of private owners of the Buchholz facility with the consent of the non-affiliated owners of the former property developer, Christburk Haus- und Grundbesitz GmbH and Niederbarnimer Eisenbahn AG. The owners had submitted flower names for the naming of the private roads in order to avoid double naming in Berlin . The existing address system did not ensure that individual parcels could be found quickly, for example during rescue operations by the police and fire brigade. Official naming was necessary, especially since the Senate Department for Urban Development and the Environment was preparing for the nationwide introduction of the ALKIS program system in the real estate cadastre. This requires a connection between the Automated Property Book (ALB) and the Automated Property Map (ALK) via a "georeferenced building address" consisting of the street name and property number (house number) that was missing in the Buchholz system.
