The Little Rachel is a 1,399 meter high mountain in the Bavarian Forest National Park 1.75 km from the border to the Czech Republic . It is the third highest mountain in the Bavarian Forest.
It is located around 900 m northwest of the higher Großer Rachel (1,453 m), but is much less climbed. On the rocks a little below the highest point there is a summit cross with a summit book . From there you have views of the Zwiesler Winkel, the Großer Arber , the Falkenstein and the Frauenau drinking water reservoir .
The Kleine Rachel can only be reached on foot via various hiking trails, for example from Oberfrauenau , from the Klingenbrunn train station or across from the Großer Rachel. However, the path to the summit cross is not marked and requires path finding. Furthermore, it is subject to the mandatory trails (unmarked trail) and, according to the current national park ordinance, is only accessible from July 15 to November 15.
