About this picture

The Rennbahngemeinde Hoppegarten is a municipality in the west of the Märkisch-Oderland district in Brandenburg . It was created on October 26, 2003 through the legally mandated merger of the three municipalities of Dahlwitz-Hoppegarten, Hönow and Münchehofe. On March 22, 2018, the municipal council decided to add “Rennbahngemeinde” to the name.

The name Hoppegarten is derived from hops .

geography

The municipality is divided in two by a "spur" protruding to the east of the Berlin district of Marzahn-Hellersdorf: in the north the district Hönow, in the south the districts Dahlwitz-Hoppegarten and Münchehofe. The municipality borders in the north-west and north on the unofficial community Ahrensfelde , in the east with the unofficial city Altlandsberg and the unofficial community Neuenhagen near Berlin , in the southeast with Schöneiche near Berlin , in the south with the Berlin district Treptow-Köpenick and in the west with the Marzahn-Hellersdorf district ( Berlin ).

Community structure

According to the main statute, the community is divided into three districts

and the residential areas Heidemühle, Hönow Dorf, Hönow Nord, Hönow Süd, Mönchsheim, Neubirkenstein and Ravenstein

history

The history of the municipality of Hoppegarten is the history of originally four, later three formerly independent municipalities and other smaller settlements (today parts of the municipality and residential areas) ( see : corresponding local article).

Since 1817 the places belonged to the Niederbarnim district in the Prussian province of Brandenburg and from 1952 to the Strausberg district in the GDR district of Frankfurt (Oder) . Since 1993 they have been in the Brandenburg district of Märkisch-Oderland.

To manage the many, e.g. Office administration was introduced in Brandenburg in 1992, some of them very small. On September 11, 1992, the Minister of the Interior of the State of Brandenburg approved the formation of the Hoppegarten Office. September 15, 1992 was set as the date of establishment of the office. The office was based in the municipality of Dahlwitz-Hoppegarten and initially consisted of three municipalities in the then Strausberg district :

  • Hoenow
  • Dahlwitz-Hoppegarten
  • Münchehofe

On October 26, 2003 the three municipalities belonging to the office were merged by law to form the new Hoppegarten municipality. The office of Hoppegarten was dissolved and the municipality of Hoppegarten became vacant. The former communities of Dahlwitz-Hoppegarten and Hönow sued unsuccessfully against the "merger from above" before the state constitutional court; the claims were dismissed.
