State Road Administration

The Landesbetrieb Straßenwesen Brandenburg (LS) is a state enterprise within the meaning of § 14 of the law on the organization of the state administration in Brandenburg ( state organization law - LOG). He is responsible for the planning, construction, maintenance and operation of the federal highways , federal highways and state roads in Brandenburg. Like the State Office for Building and Transport , the LS is a subordinate authority of the Ministry of Infrastructure and State Planning with its seat in Hoppegarten ( Märkisch-Oderland district ).

Tasks of the state company

According to the establishment decree of December 8, 2004, the tasks of the state operations include:

1. the planning, construction, operation and maintenance of federal highways,
2. the planning, construction, operation and maintenance of the state roads,
3. the administration of the roads (specialist assets),
4. ensuring road safety on all federal highways and state roads,
5. the promotion of municipal road construction.

In addition, the state company is responsible for vocational training in the recognized training occupation of road attendant according to the Vocational Training Act (BBiG) in the state of Brandenburg and it is the training authority for the careers of civil servants in the higher technical administration service in the state of Brandenburg (specializing in civil engineering).

The headquarters of the state company is in Hoppegarten on the city limits to Berlin. It has a total of 7 offices (DS) in 3 regions:

East region

• DS Frankfurt (Oder)
• DS Eberswalde

West region

• DS Potsdam
• DS Kyritz

South region

• DS Cottbus
• DS Wünsdorf

Former Autobahn branch

• DS Stolpe

According to the annual report, the state company had 2142 employees in 2013.

The state operations are managed by a board of directors consisting of 3 specialist boards and a chairman.

Road network

The road network in the state of Brandenburg, which is managed by the state office, covers around 12,236 kilometers. As of December 31, 2016, this network consists of:

• 805 kilometers of motorway
• 2702 kilometers of federal highways, 585 kilometers of which are through town roads and
• 5661 kilometers of state roads, 1546 kilometers of which are through town roads.

Part of the road network as a whole

• 2591 bridge structures , of which 1835 are no longer part of the federal contract administration . In total, the state company looks after 1801 partial structures as part of the federal government's order management.
