The Saxon State Office for Road Construction and Transport (LASuV) , as the higher road construction authority of the Free State of Saxony, is responsible for the administration, planning and construction of federal highways and state roads and is subordinate to the Saxon State Ministry for Economics, Labor and Transport (SMWA). The president of the LASuV is Doris Drescher.

history

The formerly responsible for the autobahns of Saxony and the five former road construction offices responsible for the federal and state roads until the end of 2011 were merged into the new State Office for Road Construction and Transport (LASuV) on January 1, 2012.

With the entry into force of the Saxon Location Act on March 1, 2012, the LASuV also took on additional tasks that were previously part of the Saxon State Directorate . The bundling of tasks in the LASuV is part of the state modernization of the Saxon state government. The optimized structure is intended to ensure that the transport infrastructure is well-balanced across the country and is close to the location, thus meeting the needs of citizens and businesses as well as those of the districts and municipalities.

The merger is seen as the largest and most comprehensive structural change in the Free State of Saxony since the road construction administration was founded after the fall of the Wall.
