Falkenberg

history

Falkenberg / Mark is first mentioned in a document together with Cöthen in 1334. The Kreuzangerdorf Gersdorf was first mentioned in 1307 as Ghearddestrop and in 1375 as Gerhardsdorf. In the Middle Ages Gersdorf belonged to the neighboring farms on wild pitch pitcher Mark for possession of the Cistercian nuns - monastery Friedland . From 1568 to 1573 Kruge was owned by the von Pfuel family.

Coethen is mentioned in Barnim's local directory from 1375 under the name Koten. In 1451 it had 48 hubs. Who owned the village until the 16th century has not been proven for certain. The von Holzendorf family bought it in 1590. From 1663 to 1607 it belonged to the von Falkenberg family, then to the family of the Imperial Count von Flemming, who sold it to Gottfried von Jena in 1721 together with Danneberg and Falkenberg.

In the GDR, the former Coethen manor house was a boarding school for children with parents in the diplomatic service. The building now houses a special school for the Stephanus Foundation.

Falkenberg has belonged to the Oberbarnim district in the province of Brandenburg since 1817 and to the Bad Freienwalde district in the GDR district of Frankfurt (Oder) from 1952 . The municipality has been in the Brandenburg district of Märkisch-Oderland since 1993.
