The municipality is located in the eastern Oderbruch along the Oder , which forms the border between Germany and Poland here.

history

The community was created in its current expansion on December 31, 2001 from the voluntary amalgamation of the previously independent communities Bleyen and Genschmar.

Genschmar was founded in 1405. It belonged to the district of Lebus until 1952 , Alt Bleyen and Neu Bleyen, however, until 1945 to the district of Königsberg Nm. in Neumark, mainly east of the Oder . Old Bleyen and New Bleyen were merged on January 1, 1946 to form Bleyen parish.

Alt Bleyen and Neu Bleyen have belonged to the Königsberg / Neumark district since 1817 , and Genschmar to the Lebus district in the province of Brandenburg . From 1952 the communities belonged to the Seelow district in the GDR district of Frankfurt (Oder) . Since 1993 they have been in the Brandenburg district of Märkisch-Oderland.
