Kumiko Ōkawa
Kumiko Ōkawa ( Japanese 大川 久 美 子 , Ōkawa Kumiko ; born February 22, 1946 in Osaka Prefecture ), married Kumiko Satō ( 佐藤 久 美 子 , Satō Kumiko ), is a former Japanese figure skater who started in a single run .
Ōkawa became the Japanese champion in 1967 and 1968 . In the period from 1964 to 1968 she took part in world championships . Her best result was fifth place, which she achieved at the 1967 and 1968 World Championships . It was the best placement of a Japanese woman at world championships up to that point. Ōkawa represented Japan twice at the Olympic Games . In 1964 she was 13th, and in 1968 she was eighth.
Ōkawa married the Japanese figure skating record champion Nobuo Satō . Their daughter Yuka Satō was figure skating world champion in 1994 . Like her husband, Ōkawa worked as a figure skating coach after completing her competitive career.
